Makassar, S Sulawesi (Antara Sulsel) - South Sulawesi Governor Syahrul Yasin Limpo led a 150-strong trade mission to the Maluku provincial capital of Ambon aimed at enhancing trade relations between the two provinces.
"The cooperation will be implemented from August to October 2017," the governor said in a press statement released on Sunday.
The trade mission comprised 150 participants from 30 micro small and medium businesses, local administration`s working units (SKPD), state seaport operator Pelindo IV, state lenders BNI and BRI, and the local office of Bank Indonesia (the central bank), cement producer PT Sonasa and the local chapter of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).
Maluku Governor Said Assagaff greeted the South Sulawesi governor upon arrival at Ambon.
During the visit, the trade mission coordinated by the South Sulawesi provincial trade office will hold an exhibition displaying hundreds of small and medium entrepreneurs` products at Maluku City Mall from July 31 to August 1.
After Maluku, the South Sulawesi government will hold similar trade missions in Kalimantan, Java, Sumatra and Nusa Tenggara.
Chief of the South Sulawesi Trade Office Hadi Basalaman said the cooperation is part of the effort to encourage connectivity among the eastern parts of Indonesia.
